The Union held it's AGM on Thursday 5th February 2009. 1st XV veteran and major club contibutor Clinton Hemple was voted in as the President for 2009. The following were voted into positions of the Executive Committe. Please don't hesitate to get in contact with them regarding any issues of the Union.
The Chairman: Claire Robey The Hon Secretary: Rob McIntrye The Hon Treasurer: Dustyn Molver Membership Secretary: Marriane Rajic Social Secretaries: Jonny Bailey and Cassandra Molver Club Captains: Tom Chapman and Brodie Faragher The Men's 7's team has just returned from the Trinidad Enthusiasts Carib International 7's in Port of Spain where they brought home wins for the BVI against Northern Club of Trinidad as well as YTC of Trinidad. These high scoring wins managed to get them into the semi final of the plate against a disgruntled Northern team who came out determined to put the BVI boys out of the tournament. The boys rugby for the weekend ended there but there was still plenty of fun to be had with our Carib cooler before picking up the Camaraderie Award and marching to the Harvard Club for the afterparty. Thanks to Pussers for provide us with the fuel. There is a few photos in the gallery plus a detailed report by Dave Bailey in the past events.

BVI Rugby Union is also delighted to announce that the SHRM Group is to be the new principal sponsor of rugby in the British Virgin Islands. SHRM is a niche provider of financial services with offices in the BVI, Hong Kong, Luxembourg, New Zealand and The Netherlands. Bart d'Ancona the company C.E.O. has played rugby for the BVI, Jersey and Luxembourg as such he was delighted to hand over a check for 20,000 USD to Club Secretary Rob McIntyre. Commenting on the deal Bart stated: "I have been involved in the financial industry here in the BVI since the mid 1980s and at that time the rugby club was a great social and sporting hub. What we are doing here by investing in rugby in the BVI is not only ensuring that this continues, but also trying to get all the children in the schools engaged in a sport which will teach them many valuable life skills." SHRM opened their new offices in Road Town in late 2007 and the new office headed by David Finlayson and Ronan Kuczaj follows the company policy of investing in the sport. Alex van Zeeland, MD of SHRM Luxembourg, and himself a former Luxembourg captain recently signed a new sponsorship deal with the Luxembourg National U-18 & U-20 sides which compete around Europe. Likewise Reid Thurlow MD of SHRM Hong Kong is also a duel BVI / Luxembourg International and supports rugby programs both in the Far East and in his native New Zealand. Primarily the sponsorship will fund the new Rugby Development officer Mr. Sherlock Sam from Guyana; who has recently moved to the BVI to take over the Youth program created by the last officer Max Malkin. In the process we managed to raise a considerable sum towards the Youth Development Program. Guest Speaker Tony Spreadbury delivered a memorable performance and Andrew Thorpe dazzled us all with his humour and wit behind the hammer in the auction with a host of jokey digs directed towards the Saffas as well as RDO Max Malkin.
